A consequence of a festival's increasing popularity is the continuous rise of visitors from year to year. During the first year of Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival (in 2005), it attracted 57,800 people during its three-day course. Fast forward to its fifth year, Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival (known better as Java Jazz Festival), the largest jazz festival in the Southern hemisphere was attended by 84,350 people.

To ensure the comfort of its escalating visitors, its organizer, Java Festival Production, relocated the festival to a larger venue. JIExpo Kemayoran, located in the heart of Central Jakarta, was selected as the official venue for the sixth edition of Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival, due to be held on 5, 6 and 7 March 2010. The new venue is projected to be able to hold more than 100,000 visitors over the course of three days.

Becoming a Festival Destination

As shared by a number of international musicians, Java Jazz Festival has become quite a trending topic amongst musicians. “Have you been to Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta?" is a question often heard amongst jazz musicians.

The festival's increasing popularity brought Java Festival Production, its organizer, to receive a rising number of proposals from musicians wishing to perform at Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival, some of which have already performed but wished to repeat the experience. Some (musicians) even sent in their proposals via email as early as the end of Java Jazz Festival 2009.

International musicians are not the only ones rushing to attend the festival, which is held every first full weekend of March. International mass medias are also starting to show its interest to cover Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival. It is obvious that the festival, Indonesia's pride of a festival, has indeed become a phenomenon of its own. Indonesia, a country relatively unknown by most music lovers, is the host of a world-class jazz festival.

Every year, Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival's attracts larger crowds. Music enthusiasts from Indonesia's neighboring countries even began purchasing the festival's tickets months before. This showcases that Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival's motto “Bringing the World to Indonesia", is not just a motto, but also an actualization. Java Festival Production has united various nations of the world through the language of jazz.

Jakarta is now “The City of Music Festivals" as it hosts three international-class festivals annually. Marvel in the jazz of Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival 2010 on 5, 6 and 7 March 2010.
