17-Year-Old Daughter of Saxophonist Jesse Davis Shot and Killed in Oakland, CA

Desiree Davis, the granddaughter of the late trumpeter Howard McGhee and daughter of alto saxophonist Jesse Davis, was shot and killed on Monday, September 7, 2009 in Oakland, California while visiting with friends.

The 17-year-old, who moved to Oakland from New Orleans with her mother and sister after Hurricane Katrina, was a high school senior and attended Oakland Technical High School.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest of the still-unknown gunman.
