Steven Blane

Steven Blane is a Pop-Jazz Singer-Songwriter Poet in the style of Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, and Billy Joel. He plays piano, guitar, and ukulele and has released nine albums to date.

His newest album, to be released March 15, 2023, is an album of 13 original songs entitled “Songs for New York Lovers.” The songs evoke the jazz-pop vocal vibe that defines the classic NYC sound.

Of his album, entitled “Boulevard of Broken Dreams," one reviewer said, “Boulevard features killer vocals and lyrics, very meaningful story-lines, and beautiful tracks with strong and emotional delivery.”

Of Blane’s album “So New York,” Seattle PI wrote, "So New York is grand! The album is full of vintage jazz/pop aromas giving off tantalizing wisps of elusive familiarity similar to the heady music of the '40s and '50s. Steven Blane's voice is deliciously deluxe, full of lush tones."

During the Corona Virus Pandemic, Blane journal-ed his experiences. One of his lyrics was featured in an article in Vanity Fair.

Steven has been a resident artist at Shrine in Harlem, NYC. He is also a Rabbi and Cantor and leads High Holiday Services at The Bitter End in NYC. He is the founder and Dean of JSLI and the Rabbi of Sim Shalom.

Steven Blane is a singer-songwriter in the Americana-Jazz genres. His style incorporates a pop influence along with a 1950’s rock vibe that gives his sound a unique signature.

"Stylistically, Blane fits in the Americana category. But there’s more going on in his music than simply Americana. There’s a pop influence in there, along with a 1950’s rock vibe that gives his sound a unique signature. It’s much different from the usual run-of-the-mill stuff most bands turn out today."
