STEVE HOOKS (Saxophones, Flute, Double Sax, Songwriter/Composer)

Born: March 25, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa (USA).

Schooling: Music scholarship to Memphis State University.

1964: Began playing professionally in Memphis, Tennessee. Hung out with some of the Memphis Horns during the 60's Memphis "Scene".

1965: Made first recording for HI Records (Al Greene's label).

1966-68: U.S. Army Band.

1969-1974: St. Louis, Dallas, Los Angeles, Nashville, etc. (playing soul, rock & roll, country and jazz with various artists).

1975-1995: Los Angeles, California: (working as a sideman for many artists and band leader of a popular jazz band, The Steve Hooks Band).

1995-Now: Munich, Germany: (working with many artists and studio work for records and film). Toured with the Weather Girls for over 3 years. Started new jazz band called “Too Cold”. Currently touring throughout Europe with “Max Greger Jr.”, “JB5”, “Too Cold” and others. Three CD’s available for download on the internet with Ability Records.

Highlights: 1973-Staff Writer for Broadway Music in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. 1980-Staff Writer for Warner Brothers Music in Hollywood, California. 1981-Staff Writer for Hitzgalore Music in Van Nuys, California.
