Philadelphia native Henry Grimes performed with Anita O'Day, Sonny Rollins, and the Gerry Mulligan Quartet. A versatile instrumentalist, Grimes (quite remarkably) performed at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival with the Benny Goodman Big Band, Lee Konitz, Sonny Rollins, and Thelonious Monk.
