Ryan Quigley

The Ryan Quigley Big Band has established itself as one of the most exciting and vibrant large ensembles in the UK.

Ryan Quigley over the last ten years has become one of the most well known and in demand trumpet players on the UK music scene.

From playing lead trumpet in a big band to sitting in an orchestra to becoming one of the best jazz musicians in the country, Ryan seems to be at home in any musical situation.

Touring and recording with the likes of Vince Mendoza, The Metropole Orchestra, George Michael's Symphonica, Sharleen Spiteri, Bob Geldof, Michel LeGrand, Ronan Keating, Curtis Stiegers, Eddi Reader, Isobel Campbell and many others, Ryan is very much in demand as a lead player, soloist, section player and arranger.

Currently Quigley is lead trumpet with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and regularly tours at home and abroad with bands Salsa Celtica, the Unusual Suspects and others. His sextet has enjoyed much critical success since the recording of his debut album, Laphroaigian Slip and he has since gone on to win the prestigious Promoter’s Choice Award as well as a Parliamentary Jazz Award and a Scottish Jazz Award.

Ryan is also an active composer and arranger having not only composed and arranged nearly all of the music on his debut recording but has also arranged music for horn sections, big bands and has also orchestrated for the likes of the BBC Concert Orchestra.

As suits his temperament, every number ...
