River Blenders Chorus
DESCRIPTION: The River Blenders Chorus is one of over 600 choruses of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to singing four-part, a cappella harmony, barbershop style. With more than 30,000 members on five continents, Sweet Adelines International is the world’s largest singing organization for women.
MEMBERSHIP: The River Blenders have a membership of over 100 voices, the majority residing in St. Louis, St. Charles and Jefferson Counties in Missouri, with an increasing number from Illinois.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: The River Blenders have the distinction of being champions of the Midwest Gateway Region 5 ten times during their thirty year history. The chorus is recognized among the top choruses in the world and has represented Region 5 at ten International Chorus Competitions. The River Blenders will compete at the Sweet Adelines International Competition in Hawaii in 2008.
The River Blenders continue to gain prominence in the St. Louis area by performing onstage at the Sheldon Concert Hall, the Old Courthouse, the Fox Theatre, Union Station, and at numerous charitable, civic and corporate functions as well as at private events. They have been featured in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, on KSDK-TV, in the “Christmas Postcard” spots on KTVI-TV, the Muny’s Oklahoma chorus, the Kenny Roger’s Christmas Show at the Fox Theatre, the 2000 Andy Williams’ Christmas Show at the Fox Theatre, the 2005 Divas Concert at the Sheldon, the Komen Race for a Cure and KMOX radio.
DIRECTOR: Master Director Diane Huber is a 35-year veteran of Sweet Adelines. She is recognized worldwide as a music educator and international quartet champion. Mrs. Huber is a member of the Region 5 Music Staff, and she recently completed a two-year term as President of Sweet Adelines International.
