After a period when the Swiss Insub label was not very active, it is a pleasure to report that Boxing Noise features one of Insub's main driving forces, Cyril Bondi, on drums, which he has played since the mid 1990s. The album was recorded live at Cave 12, Geneva, and Bikini Test, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, from 22nd to 25th June 2021. This album is the third in a series of three releases which are part of a project by the duo Alvear / Bondi whose members are Chilean guitarist Cristian Alvear and Swiss percussionist Cyril Bondi. Across the three albums, the pair interpreted and recorded six new compositions which they commissioned, three by Chilean and three by Swiss artists. Although they were recorded and released separately, months apart, everything about the albums suggests that the three should be considered together.

In 2017, Switzerland's Cyril Bondi, German Christoph Schiller and Montreal-based Pierre-Yves Martel came together as the trio Tse (which means “here" in a Swiss mountain dialect) with Bondi playing harmonium and pitch pipes, Schiller spinet, and Martel on viola da gamba. Switzerland's Insub Meta Orchestra (IMO) opted to release their fourth album, 13 and 27, on the UK-based Another Timbre label instead of the INSUB label that had issued their first three recordings.
