David Carlsson – Electric Bassist/Music Producer/Engineer:

David Carlsson was born in Lund, Sweden in 1969. He began playing the electric bass at age 12, and quickly got recognized as a great talent. After finishing upper secondary school he entered the 2 year Music High School at Skurups Folkhögskola studying jazz. He has since worked in the music industry both as a musician and as a studio owner and has worked on over 200 productions featuring artists ranging from Jason Marsalis, Marcus Strickland, Bobo Stenson and Nils Landgren to The Cardigans, OK Go, Martha Wainwright, Lloyd Cole and Japanese mega star Bonnie Pink. He's performed at most of the nordic summer music festivals, toured clubs and festivals in Canada, USA, Japan and around Europe and has been featured on several occasions in both Swedish National Radio and Television. David is also doing solo performances and is constantly pushing the limits for his Electric Bass sound using various experimental techniques.

Groups/Projects: David's Angels: The band has released two critically acclaimed CDs, in 2009 ”Substar”, featuring NYC-based trumpet player Ingrid Jensen, and 2013 ”What It Seems”, both on Swedish label Kopasetic. Lim: At first a trio, now quartet with drummer Peter Nilsson, saxophonist Henrik Frisk and recent member Samuel Hällkvist, all three internationally acclaimed musicians. Focusing on complex rythmic concepts based on mathematic formulas, the band has released four albums, ”lim” (2003), ”Superlim” (2006), ”With Marc Ducret” (2010) featuring French guitar wizard Marc Ducret and "Disembodied" (2015) featuring Hällkvist.

The Opposite was initiated by French pianist Loïc Dequidt and drummer Peter Nilsson with a desire to investigate improvisation and interplay through a collective approach. The music is based on rhythmic concepts, partly inspired by the musical traditions of India, Africa and Cuba. The Sextet has released two albums, ”Intertwined” (2009) and ”In Action” (2012), and won the independent Swedish Manifest Award in the Best Jazz Recording category in 2010. The band has toured Sweden, France and Italy, and has also been featured live in both Swedish and French national radio as well as Swedish National Television.
