Jean Paul Artero

Born in Morocco August 1946, moved to France at 6, Jazz music entered in my life when I was 13 years old, listening to New Orleans and Blues music. At 16, I opened my mind to all types of Jazz and when the first opportunity to be an actor occured, I started a jazz club in Aix en Provence 1979, Hot Brass. Then in Paris La Villette fr0m 1993 to 1997 (a 600 seats jazz club now named Trabendo) and Avignon in 2002. From the first time I never lefted live stages , and started to learn and practice double bass in 1989, just because jazz became my way of life.

After several Hot Brass jazz clubs (Aix, Paris La Villette and Avignon) until 2005, I started booking clubs, restaurants, theater and festivals and also perform since 1997 in a trio French Sumo, which is my main band still now. I hold the bass also for Art Robber trio since 2013 and played side with several artists, singers or instrumental. Thanks to all of them for sharing these moments.
