Dan Redner – Award-Winning Musical Director, Pianist, & Educator
Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dan Redner is a versatile pianist in both classical and jazz traditions. A 2007 alumnus of Grand Valley State University, he has earned performance honors from Western Michigan University, Central Michigan University, Aquinas College, and the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival. He has collaborated with the Grand Rapids Symphony and the Austin Symphony Orchestra, and served as a clinic musician for jazz legend Wynton Marsalis.
Dan has performed at the T.S. Eliot Society Conference in St. Louis for the world premiere of Craig Benjamin’s opera, The Wasteland, and at the famed Rose Theater @ Jazz At Lincoln Center in NYC as the MD & Pianist for the Broadway musical revue, Sing out. In 2025, he performed with Italian tenor, Andrea Bocelli during his North American tour at Austin’s Moody Center Arena, and most recently at Bass Concert Hall with Grammy nominated, multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird.
As a member of the New Music Ensemble, Dan recorded Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians on Innova Recordings. The album was named a top recording of 2007 by The New York Times, L.A. Weekly, The Rest Is Noise, and New York Magazine. It topped Apple Music and Amazon’s classical charts, spent 11 weeks on Billboard’s Top 25 Classical Crossover chart, and was featured at NYC’s Bang on a Can Festival and on NPR.
Dan spent six years performing internationally as a Music Director for Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Azamara Cruises, leading Broadway, revue, and cabaret productions. Since relocating to Austin in 2011, Dan earned a Master’s in Jazz Studies UT Austin’s Butler School of Music.
Currently he performs in various jazz settings, accompanies national Broadway tours at Bass Concert Hall (Wicked, Mean Girls, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin), and musical directs for Austin’s Moontower Entertainment. Dan also teaches 60 weekly private students from his home studio.
