Michael Carter

Bay Area native Michael Carter has been treating audiences to his rich vocals and throwback style for the past 10 years. Born in 1986, the foundation of Michael's distinctive style stems from his early childhood listening to the classic crooners of the 1950s and 60s. Raised in a musical family, Michael received his first voice lessons from his grandfather Harry Carter, an accomplished musician. Michael later studied under musical greats – Nate Pruitt who provided instruction on vocal technique, and Arthur Junker, who invited the young baritone to sit in on his performances at the prestigious "Bach to Blues" benefit concerts in 2006 and 2007. Michael has been active in numerous other projects as a bandleader, booking agent, lead vocalist, and promoter, including: the Line-Up Quartet, Russo Alberts Trio, South Bay Swing Band, and Vintage Noise. With a charismatic style, Michael is helping to bring the art of crooning back into the spotlight.
