Eddy Balzola

Eddy Balzola & ORIENTE! "Soul Jazz Meets the Clave" Born in Guanabacoa, Cuba, artist / guitarist / composer / arranger Eddy Balzola debuted his funky world fusion band at Snug Harbor Jazz Club in New Orleans mid-90s. ORIENTE’s bluesy, harmonic jazz and soul, seasoned with Afro-Cuban & Caribbean rhythms, was unique, fresh, cool and colorful. Balzola remains ever evolving and creative with instrumentation, space and sound. His current trio and quartet projects feature long-time band member and amazing multi- percussionist Yoel Del Sol (Cienfuegos, Cuba), joined by world class bassist Rusty Hari Heck on upright & electric (Puerto Rico), lifelong friend and superb bassist Dony Felix (Haiti) and Cuban/Jazz vocalist Livan Mena. The band’s musical palette ranges from melodic, bluesy, swingin’ and sensitive, to get-down funky, with serious organic rhythms and soul with the freedom to improvise at any moment.
