Brian Woodruff
In the past year, Woodruff has been busy performing with The Jacob Varmus Quintet, The New-Trad Octet, and singers Akemi, Aimee Allen, Marieann Meringolo, Nana Yamakawa, and Chuck Cooper. His first CD as a leader, "The Tarrier," is now available, featuring a wide variety of Woodruff's originals performed by his stellar sextet. Recent recordings include All the Things We Still Can Be, with Jacob Varmus, Dream, with singer Aimee Allen, Brownstone, with the New-Trad Octet, and In the Spirit, with Marieann Meringolo. He is also featured on Jacob Varmus' upcoming CD, "Terminal Stillness."
Mr. Woodruff received a Bachelor of Music in Applied Percussion from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s Degree in Jazz and Commercial Music from the Manhattan School of Music. He is currently on the faculty of Brooklyn Music School and Long Island Conservatory.
