Shawn Lovato: Biotic

Shawn Lovato si aggiunge alla nutrita schiera di contrabbassisti, compositori e leader di formazioni, che da anni sono diventati una presenza costante nel mondo variegato del jazz e musiche affini (Linda May Han Oh, Esperanza Spalding, Billy Mohler, Avishai Cohen per citarne alcuni). Frequentatore della scena newyorkese più creativa e vivace, da questa Lovato ha assorbito stimoli e provocazioni come ben evidente in Cycles of Animation ( Skirl,2017) e Microcosms (ears&eyes,2022), i due album precedentemente pubblicati da leader.

On his two previous releases, bassist Shawn Lovato revealed an inventive compositional approach that made excellent use of his ensembles. His debut, Cycles of Animation (Skirl Records, 2017), harnessed a formidable quintet while his sophomore effort, Microcosms, was more ambitious still, channeling his creative vision through a sextet format (ears&eyes Records, 2022).
