These words only begin to describe the music and talents of lukelee. guitarist/artist/songwriter/percusionist/singer, lukelee has steadily and carefully crafted an original body of work he terms a "spiritually tinged blend of jazz,rock,r&b,blues and traditional African music." Lukelee's unique brand of music, addresses all human emotions that fall under the universal theme of Love,joy and peace .He takes music back to its roots with his minimalist guitar driven approach to performing and recording. He's ultimately, his own artist.His unique style is shown throughout his music, and his personality is one that everyone falls in love with. Formally addressed as luke oluwasegun lee but later changed his name to luke deji daniel and prefers the lukelee as his stage name.Born in the western part of africa, nigeria to be precise .luke spent his early childhood in Lagos, immersed in the sound and rhythm of one of the most frenetic cities on earth . Influenced by the insurgent, politicized Afrobeat music of Fela Kuti, highlife music of rex lawson,victor olaiya, the unpredictable guitar phrases of wes montgomery,mark withfield,paul gilbert,robben ford,zakk wylde,eric johnson,van halen,jimmy hendrix,bb king,,jonathan butler,charlie parker,herbie hankock,chick corea ,joe pass and brian mcnight,hossanna integrity artist,and the local church revival songs. The music is in his blood. In 2002, after completing his b.sc programme in fisheries,the self taught guitarist spent some time mingling in the nigerian music industry.playing and touring with nigerian artist home and abroad. These artists include, Ben Okafor,adeniji heavy wind,Biodun Batik ,seyi sodimu,kingsley ike,sam okposu,ayinke martins,nneka,tolu obey,mike ebere.He also performed with bands like synergy,one nation,galaxy,black monkeys, and the apostles.However, he extensively toured africa with some of these bands,performing at Dubois Jazz Festival, Accra, Ghana,Jazz African Network, French Cultural Centers. Goethe Institute,just to mention a few. He however, relocated to china touring and recording with notable chinese and taiwanese artist , bands and other foreign groups.Names include,float(an afro american chinese band),hong long quatet,4 real,liu fei fei,fresh 4.He's since then performed at beijing Jazz Festival, the 21st Century theatre, the Beijing Concert Hall, CD Jazz Club, big easy(beijing), world three bar(zhonzhou),crownies plaza,pilipili(beijing),sos entertainment(hangzhou),qingdao beer anniversary hall(beijing and qingdao),beijing tv staion, changsha central tv station,mei li si shi jiu ba(changsha) and many more.However he's done some notable concerts with friends in the rest of asia, countries include, japan, hongkong, korea and malasia. It is encouraging to find new artists like luke that are blending the rhythm of african grooves with jazz and rock.
