Matteo Mosolo

Eccentric and versatile musician, curious and committed artist, always alerted to new things but also loving music history from jazz to rock, to classical music. Matteo Mosolo was born in 1985 and has begun to play and record in North Italy since 2001. Graduated in classical double bass at Conservatoio di Udine in 2011 he regularly collaborates with local orchestras and had the pleasure to play in Wien Musikverein with Japan Music Orchestra. He studied jazz double bass since 2008 improving his skills with Paolino Dalla Porta and attending masterclasses and workshops with Anto Pett, Francesco Bearzatti, Tristan Honsinger, Bebo Ferra and more. He plays with a lot of Friulan musicians and the most notably band is Humpty Duo with guitarist Luca Dal Sacco. Together they released three albums (“Acoustic Groove” 2011, “The Contest EP” 2012, “Synchronicities” released by Caligola Records in 2018) and played in big italian festivals such as Umbria Jazz 2012, Udine Jazz, Folkest, Candiani Groove, Jazz and Wine of Peace and more. In August 2020 it has been released for Caligola Records his first solo double bass album “Isolation”.

È una lezione che Matteo Mosolo impara forse proprio da Mingus, che nella sua discografia, insieme al jazz a lui contemporaneo e a una reinterpretazione del blues primigenio, aveva anticipato molti temi e sonorità della musica black di là da venire. Composizioni brevi e orecchiabili sono la carta vincente di Isolation, che permette di apprezzare la rotondità e il timbro unico del contrabbasso senza perdersi in fraseggi convoluti e tecnicismi. rockit.it
