Luisa Muhr
Luisa Muhr is an Austrian, New York based experimental vocalist and interdisciplinary art-maker, working predominantly with the voice and physical movement. Her range includes her capacity as a performer, improviser, installation artist, sound artist, composer, and experimental theater maker.
Her creations range from interdisciplinary installation performance works, experimental and music theater pieces, improvised music and movement, graphic scores and compositions, to video works, and opera. Muhr is a part of the improviser septet PlayField, as well as the audio-visual collective Dilate Ensemble. She is also a certified Deep Listening® practitioner after Pauline Oliveros.
In 2024 Muhr released her debut solo album, TEUFLIN/SHE-DEVIL on the Austrian label Boomslang, and her second album, In Trialogue.
Commissions and Residencies include Roulette Intermedium, Pioneer Works, and the Austrian Cultural Forum NYC. Artists Muhr has worked with include William Brittelle, Daniel Carter, Claire Chase, Ash Fure, Kenneth Goldsmith, Sarah Hennies, Shelley Hirsch, Carole Kim, Meredith Monk, Arturo O’Farrill, William Parker, John Zorn, and the New York Philharmonic.
