Lucas Dann

Lucas began his piano studies at a very early age at Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music. During his classical training he participated in the “101 Pianists” concert led by pianist Lang Lang at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. When he was 11, Lucas enrolled in the Humber College Community Music School, an innovative program in youth jazz education started by pianist Oscar Peterson. While attending high school at the Etobicoke School for the Arts, Lucas participated in the Humber College Jazz Studies Senior Enriched Program under the direction of Kirk MacDonald and Lorne Lofsky; and was presented with the Humber College Piano Award. Lucas’ summers have been spent at the Humber College Summer Jazz Workshop and Jazz at Interprovincial Music Course. During that time, he participated in ensembles, Master Classes and private lessons with Dave Restivo, Brian Dickinson, Mike Murley, David Braid and Terry Promane. Lucas has studied with Fred Hersch in New York City. Currently studying with Karel Boehlee, Rob van Bavel and Harmen Fraanje in Amsterdam. Lucas is in the second year of his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
