Luca Falomi
Luca Falomi is a guitarist, composer and arranger from Genoa, regarded as one of the most interesting voices on Italy’s emerging music scene for his ability to combine compositional talent, improvisational freedom and a constant exploration of sound. He began studying music at an early age, pursuing a classical education that provided him with a solid technical and theoretical foundation. At the same time, he developed a strong interest in a wide range of musical languages, gradually shaping a broad and highly personal artistic vision. Improvisation soon became a central element of his work, alongside timbral exploration: although he favours acoustic instruments, Falomi moves naturally between electric instruments and those belonging to different musical traditions. His music reflects this diverse background, integrating composition, arranging and improvisation into a distinctive musical language that crosses jazz, contemporary music, world music influences and elements of the classical tradition. At the heart of his work lies a constant attention to sound, understood as a space for exploration and storytelling. His solo recording career began in 2011 with the album Viens Voir (Orange Home Records), followed by Sober (Old Mill Records, 2014). In 2025, he released Myricae, a project entirely dedicated to the guitar, alternating solo performances with compositions enriched by production elements and guest musicians. The album received excellent reviews from the specialist press and was presented at some of Italy’s most prominent jazz and music festivals. Alongside his solo career, Falomi has been involved in numerous recording and live projects across different musical genres. Among his most significant experiences is Baccini canta Tenco (2011–2013), a theatre tour and album awarded the Premio Tenco for Best Interpretation. He also collaborated with journalist and television presenter Beppe Severgnini on the tour accompanying the publication of his book Socrate, Agata e il futuro (Rizzoli). He is actively involved in several notable collaborative projects. With Esperanto, he released the albums Esperanto (2020) and Voices (2023). He is a founding member of Motus Laevus, with whom he recorded the albums Y and Sifr for Felmay. He is also part of the project Pagine Vere, alongside Michela Lombardi and Giovanni Ceccarelli, featuring Petra Magoni and Ferruccio Spinetti. In 2021, he released Naviganti e Sognatori (Abeat Records) with Max Trabucco and Alessandro Turchet, featuring Daniele Di Bonaventura. The album was named “Album of the Month” by the magazine Musica Jazz. In 2024, the second chapter of the project, Mare Aperto, was released, featuring Maria Pia De Vito, who also wrote the lyrics for the track Infancia. In 2026, he released ¡Gracia! (Artesuono), recorded as a trio with violinist Anaïs Drago and accordionist Fausto Beccalossi. Inspired by the poetic universe of Federico García Lorca, the project intertwines composition and improvisation through an original acoustic line-up of guitar, violin and accordion. In the spring of the same year, the trio embarked on a tour of South Africa, performing at the Journey to Jazz Festival in Prince Albert, the Cape Town Jazz Club, the Cape Town Conservatory and in Knysna, alongside activities organised in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institutes inPretoria and Cape Town and the Embassy of Italy. Alongside his musical research, Falomi pursues a specific interest in instrument design and sound development. In collaboration with Utopia Guitars, he has developed his own signature classical guitar model, designed according to his technical, tonal and expressive requirements.
