Larry the Shoe DeAngelo

While working as a shoe cobbler at Al’s Shoe Service and listening to WDCB public radio, Chicago’s home for Jazz, I discovered a deep passion for music. At the age of 24, after seeing Ian Anderson perform live in concert, I was inspired to pick up the flute. Since then, I have developed proficiency in the instrument’s versatility across a wide range of musical genres, including Jazz, Rock & Roll, Afrobeat, Brazilian, Latin, and Modern Popular music.

In addition to playing the flute, I take pride in my abilities as a male vocalist and harmonica player, bringing passion, creativity, and dynamic expression to every performance. Also known by the announcer Bruce Oscar as “Larry the Shoe” on WDCB public radio, I continue to blend my love for music, craftsmanship, and performance into a unique artistic identity.
