Julien Alour
It was while blowing the foghorn on his father's boat that Julien Alour, a young man from Quimper who was then seven years old, discovered his passion for wind instruments, and soon for the trumpet. Maurice André and Dizzy Gillespie were also the two instrumentalists who would lead the novice to make this choice.
The following year, he enrolled at the Quimper Conservatory. The young musician was now on the path to classical music. A few years later, when the trumpeter was still hesitating between the Faculty and concertos, he met jazz musicians who would prove decisive. In 2001, he left his law degree, filled two suitcases with all his Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard and Roy Hargrove records, and moved to Paris. That same year, when he was 22, he joined the Belmondo brothers' school, the IACP, before returning to the CNSM two years later in the jazz and improvised music class.
Julien Alour, with his diploma in hand, quickly played in many groups. In less than five years, he recorded three albums with Samy Thiebault, two with Eric Legnini, two others with Panam Panic and regularly played with Daniel Mille and Jean-Louis Trintignant, Robin McKelle, Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Lionel Belmondo and Tony Allen. He participated in many other albums with Rhoda Scott, Adrien Chicot, Christophe Dal Sasso, Jean-Philippe Scali, Sophie Alour and Alex Freiman.
In 2014, the young artist released his first album "Williwaw" with François Théberge, Adrien Chicot, Sylvain Romano and Jean-Pierre Arnaud. This album was highly acclaimed by critics. In 2020, Julien Alour set up his own festival in the heart of Belleville, the Vita Belle-vil’festival, with the members of Vita Productions. On this occasion, he set up his new project “Light in the Box” with Simon Chivallon on Fender Rhodes, Yoni Zelnik on double bass and Elie Martin-Charrière on drums.

According to Marthouret, the reunion embodies and amplifies elements of its previous albums: the fun of playing, optimism, a sense of collectivism, the notion of contrast. Each of those components is certainly here, nestled among the album's eleven (twelve?) tracks, all of which are original ...
