Janine Alondres

Janine Alondres is a jazz recording artist who focuses on smooth jazz and contemporary jazz standards. Ms. Alondres now resides in New York City, but was born and raised in San Francisco, California to parents from the island of Oahu in Hawaii. In November 2002, she released her full-length debut CD, dreams do come true, receiving positive reviews and accolades: “I met Janine when she asked me to play harmonica on her CD, I only play on projects I believe in so I had a lot of questions...she sent me a rough copy of her record and was floored by both her voice and the unique and refreshing approach to these timeless American Jazz Classics. Her interpretations and phrasing along with top notch arranging and orchestrating made this a project I am proud to be part of. Kudos to Janine on a captivating debut.” (Rob Paparozzi, Harmonica Player, October 2002. Rob Paparozzi has performed with such artists as Cindy Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, Bobby McFerrin, and Lauryn Hill.)

In March 2004, Ms. Alondres’ album ‘dreams do come true‘ won the Hawaii Music Award for “Adult Contemporary Album of the Year” and in April 2004, she was also nominated for a Hawaiian Na Hoku Hanohano Music award for “Jazz Album of the Year.”

Ms. Alondres performed at The Hideaway Room at Helen’s in the Winter of ’05 and Spring ‘06 . Her show was titled “A Simple Romance” and included songs about her personal relationships with people who have played a very important role in her life. She is currently working with Shelly Markham on a 60’s Tribute Act titled “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” which she is planning on opening up in the Spring/Summer of ’07.

“Janine Alondres has a great voice and knowledge of jazz standards. Her debut CD Dreams Do Come True presents some of the classics done in a contemporary style, but not too contemporary. Alondres says she is inspired by the likes of legendary jazz vocalists Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne, Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughn and Nancy Wilson. However, she also has the pop stylings of Dionne Warwick and Barbara [sic] Streisand and the contemporary jazz sensitivity of Diane [sic] Krall and Diane Schurr.

Dreams Do Come True features classics like How High the Moon, Misty, The Very Thought of You, Summertime, When Sunny Gets Blue, I Wish You Love and God Bless the Child
