Homero Alvarez Sep7ett
Homero Alvarez Sep7ett is a dynamic seven-piece ensemble led by guitarist/composer Homero Alvarez. Founded in Sweden, the group crafts an energetic, up-tempo blend of jazz infused with rich Latin American rhythms—drawing from cumbia, samba, baião, maracatu, candombe, and bossa nova—while offering space for individual artistry and improvisation.
Alvarez himself has a diverse musical background: born in Buenos Aires, he and his family relocated to Sweden during his youth. His experience composing for theater, film, TV, and radio shapes much of the emotional depth in his writing.
The first full-length album Growing was released at the end of 2022 to strong reviews in Swedish jazz press. Stockholm Jazz Festival+2lira.se+2 Subsequent digital EPs and singles helped establish the group’s eclectic sound and reputation.
Their upcoming album Flowing, to be released 16 December (vinyl-only via Stockholm Jazz Records, distributed through Naxos), marks a milestone. It features seven new tracks—three already heard in digital form, and four completely new—showcasing Alvarez’s evolving compositional voice and the septet’s collective artistry.
