Composers' Orchestra Berlin
The Composers’ Orchestra Berlin is a large orchestra, consisting of strings, horns and rhythm section. Founded in autumn 2010 by the award-winning composer & conductor Hazel Leach, the opening concerts were in January 2011.
The members of the orchestra are not only improvising instrumentalists, but are also the composers. There is no fixed line-up: the composers can select instruments from the pool, to develop a brand-new and innovative orchestral repertoire with stylistic influences ranging from classical to jazz and from folk to free.... the music written for this band has no exclusion zones.

...The music herein, much of which would be better described by other musicians, is both inclusive and unfettered not to mention quite demanding, for players and listeners alike.... While there are solos, this is by and large a composer's enterprise, with the ensemble showcased much of the way. As for the music, it is highly sophisticated, sometimes enigmatic and not designed for unschooled ears. It does, however, in Leach's words, "[display] the wonderfully broad and inspiring diversity of uniquely personal styles, with influences ranging from classical to jazz and from folk to free ... truly Free Range music."
