Chris Beaty

Chris Beaty, associate professor of music at Eastern New Mexico University, directs the Jazz Studies Program and teaches applied saxophone and saxophone quartets. He also teaches courses for non-music majors including Jazz History, Music Appreciation and Music Reading. Upon his arrival, Dr. Beaty formed the Faculty Jazz Players and instituted an annual Jazz Fest on the Eastern Campus.

Dr. Beaty is involved with the North American Saxophone Alliance at the regional and national level. He has been featured as a performer and clinician at numerous conferences. Throughout our region, Dr. Beaty is known for his performances in both the classical and jazz mediums.

In addition to his heavy performing and teaching schedule, he a frequent guest clinician, adjudicator and conductor. Dr. Beaty is a native of Sacramento, Kentucky. He holds the Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree from Austin Peay State University, the Master of Music degree from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of Memphis.
