Carlos Vizcaíno Gijón

Born in Puertollano, Spain, in 1987, he began his viola studies at the age of seven at the "Pablo Sorozábal" Professional Conservatory of Music in his hometown, where he graduated in 2006 with top honors. That same year, he was admitted to the Superior Conservatory of Music of Aragon (CSMA) to continue his instrumental training under the guidance of J. M. Román (assistant professor to Gerard Caussé at the Reina Sofia School of Music). He obtained his Superior Diploma in Viola with honors.

He furthered his training with renowned professors and soloists such as Wilfried Strehle, Hartmut Rohde, Thomas Riebl, Peter Langgartner, Alan Kovacs, David Quiggle, and Paul Cortese.

In the field of chamber music, he had the opportunity to refine his skills with prestigious ensembles like the Casals Quartet and Quiroga Quartet. In 2008, his group received the "Special Audience Award for Best Group" at the IV National Chamber Music Competition "Teodoro Ballo" in Zaragoza.

He has collaborated with numerous orchestras including the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Pelléas Chamber Orchestra, Paris Mozart Orchestra, Community of Madrid Orchestra (ORCAM), "Andrés Segovia" Chamber Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra of Spain, among others.

His interest in Baroque music led him to pursue training in Baroque viola at the Early Music Department of the Conservatory of Toulouse (CRR) with master Gilles Colliard. This period instrument training allowed him to join the Impetus Baroque Ensemble, Goya String Quartet, and the baroque orchestra "La Spagna."

He has recorded extensively for Spanish television (TVE), National Radio of Spain, Radio Televisión Española (RTVE) label, Cadena Ser, RTVCM, Aragón Radio, and Aragón Television.

He has performed with internationally renowned artists and groups such as Lang Lang, Yuri Bashmet, Benjamin Schmid, Bertrand Chamayou, Vadim Gluzman, Iwona Sobotka, and Orphéon Donostiarra, and has been conducted by Emmanuel Krivine, Walter Weller, Michael Francis, Carlos Kalmar, Benjamin Levy, Claire Gibault, and James Ross, among others.

During 2011 and 2012, he was a collaborating member of the Spanish Radio and Television Orchestra (ORTVE). In 2012, he obtained a Master's degree in Music Teaching and Training from the Complutense University of Madrid.

In 2013, he joined the Chamber Orchestra of Toulouse.
