Amanda Trees
My stage and TV experience involves a wide variety of things including Broadway, Summer Theater, Off-Broadway, and several years of playing a lead on a soap opera, Love Of Life on CBS. During this time I kept up with the music and was asked to record an album for the (then) Poppy Records, which later became Tomato Records and they asked if I would like to record again. It seemed the right time to re-enter the arena, since many years of learning experiences provided me with the material and courage to pour it in to music for people to (hopefully) listen to and enjoy.
I was put into the compilation "The Great Tomato Singer/Songwriter Collection" along side legends such as Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. This was one of the most exciting experiences of my life! As far back as I can remember, these people have been some of my heroes. Two songs of mine in the CD are ‘Treasure Island’ and ‘When I Find Your Beat." As far as inspiration is concerned, the feelings that comprised the writing of these songs is multi-layered, allegorical and abstract responses to experiences in life. When I sit down to play, I picture I'm in a ship, and it has an imaginary wheel, and the keys help me glide and steer the vehicle.
In films, I’m seen in "The Adjustment Bureau" and am one of the Aliens in "Men In Black III," the Irish Barmaid in the pilot for series "Over/Under," and play piano at Caravan Of Dreams, Cornelia Street Cafe, The Cinnamon Tree and for a church in Brooklyn, NY.
I recently collaborated on a musical play called “Alice Are You?” premiering at Mark Morris Theater in Brooklyn, NY, with Sarah Irene, an Alice-In- Wonderland based theme taking place in the arena of show business, and I played the title role plus co wrote the music.
