Ama

Ama es el grupo de San Sebastián que sale a la luz en noviembre de 2002 con un primer disco homónimo para Jabalina Música. Desde entonces, la formación inicial de trío que grabó su álbum de debut ha aumentado hasta la de quinteto, que actualmente integran los hermanos Borja y Javier Sánchez (guitarras y voces), Jon Intxausti (batería), Yon Vidaur (teclados y programaciones) y Xabier Arrieta (bajo), el último en llegar tras la despedida de Juan Luis Etxeberría. Nombres reconocibles por haber formado parte, alguno continúa haciéndolo, de grupos como Daily Planet, La Buena Vida, El Joven Bryan, Manoukian... Todas ellas referencias que nos indican con claridad que sus componentes, ahora bajo esta nueva denominación, simple y llanamente hacen canciones pop. Un estilo y una forma de hacer y de entender la música que comprende muchos caminos, pero que en Ama toma un nuevo desvío hacia situaciones que todos vivimos en alguna medida, contadas de forma diferente y que hace que en las primeras escuchas dejemos lo que estamos haciendo para sumergirnos de pleno en lo que nos cuentan. Canciones con magia, rodeadas de sencillas instrumentaciones que no hacen sino afirmar la melodía principal, adornándola sin exhibiciones. En resumidas cuentas, un grupo con composiciones (letra y música) emocionantes, en las que el qué y el cómo, el fondo y la forma, van de la mano de un modo natural para captar nuestra atención y retenerla por mucho, mucho tiempo. Ama, tras presentar su primer disco por varias capitales españolas y participar en la novena edición del Festival Internacional de Benicàssim (FIB 2003), en el Expresa 2003 de Pamplona y en la segunda edición del festival Santirock celebrado en Santiago de Compostela, emplearon todos sus esfuerzos en la composición de las canciones, primero, y en la grabación, después, de su segundo álbum, el que en septiembre de 2005 ha visto la luz bajo el título de "A un metro de mí".
