40Twenty
Inspired by the challenge of jazz club engagements from the 1940’s, 50's, and 60's, drummer Vinnie Sperrazza, pianist Jacob Sacks, trombonist Jacob Garchik and bassist Dave Ambrosio have formed 40twenty and will be presenting two 60-minute sets nightly, Tuesday through Saturday, July 27th-July 31st and August 3rd-August 7th, at Ibeam Music.
While this is the debut engagement of 40twenty, the albums Peak Inn (Fresh Sound New Talent 343) featuring Sperrazza, Sacks, and Ambrosio, Romance, (Yestereve Records 02) featuring Garchik and Sacks, and Two Miles A Day (Yeah Yeah/Loyal Label LLCD 001-YY4001), the acclaimed release featuring Sacks with legendary drummer Paul Motian, map out the territory the new quartet occupies.
The 10-night, 20-set engagement will be recorded for possible release.
