My Jazz Story

I love jazz. It is a SOUL experience! Whether listening, performing (playing an instrument, singing, scatting, etc.!! Jazz is all about one's interpretation of this wonderful music. You hear so many different folks give their rendition...and it is a Spiritual experience. Our ancestors let a treasure trove of music for use to enjoy, celebrate and perform. I was exposed to jazz later in my life journey as I have always been a huge fan of classic soul and R&B. My respect for the artistry is wonderful. My advice to new listeners...Life is short. There is sooo much Music and creative artistry in the earth. So much music...so little time. If you choose to pursue music, it is NOT a marathon...! And you have to be your greatest advocate to champion your musical journey. Believe in your projects and recognize sometimes you will be walking alone... It is important to surround yourself with a small supportive clique. If it is your dream...do not lose focus. PRESS ON! I appreciate all who believe in your Potential When weary, recharge! Grateful to: be able to share the gift of music as an artist/creative. ...to sing! for my life.... for all the great artists of the past, present and future who delve into the rich history of Jazz. and come back even stronger. Do NOT let anyone tell you that you're past your prime! Everything you do and give serves as an example and inspiration to others. Everything is not about YOU...you have to trust the process and stay focused. Some things will move quickly...others quite slowly. But it is YOUR dance and you pace yourself. But do NOT ever give up! So many dreams are buried in graveyards. As long as you are alive you have a dream you can fulfill! Stay focused! Find mentors. Do not listen to opinions of others. Stay driven. Live! Music connects us all! YOU Can Do This! We need to always find ways to encourage ourselves. Life is as beautiful as you make it. YOU deserve a great life. No matter what happens any given day...always know that this too....shall come... to 'pass'. Don't give up! Lastly, I pray every space you occupy is blessed and better off simply because you passed through. Best to you in everything! Mary xxx...
