Rod McKuen is the only person to write an entire album for Frank Sinatra, A Man Alone (Reprise, 1969). This hit, with a slower beat, is made for a jazz soloist (and not just Sinatra). McKuen even hits a low note at the final pause, sax-like. In the '70s, McKuen demanded mixed black and white seating at his shows, with the result that singers like Sammy Davis, Jnr and Ella Fitzgerald followed him there.
