Chant is the second track on my new solo album Moon Over Lake. It's very much African influenced and is dedicated to Loïc Martin, a guitarist from Benin who moved to my home town, Ottawa, in 2000 and sadly passed away in 2020. As the title suggests, there is a repetitive melody or chant that is heard three times, each time with a different background texture. Like all African music, it's very rhythmically based and is in an odd time signature of 15/8.
