"The Lights Are Always On" is the title track of pianist and composer Lynne Arriale's powerful album available April 8, 2022 via Challenge Records International. The album features Arriale with bassist and co-producer Jasper Somsen and drummer E.J. Strickland. Arriale's 16th album as a leader features a suite of ten evocative original compositions recognizing healers, caregivers, and truth tellers. Several pieces are named in honor of heroes around the world, including people who served as caregivers on the front lines of the COVID pandemic and as defenders of democracy. Dr. Prakash Gada, a surgeon in Tacoma, Washington, whose assurance that "the lights are always on" for providing care during the pandemic, inspired the title.
