Toronto pianist and composer Thompson Egbo-Egbo offers a richly cinematic session on Just A Thought, built around the deep chemistry of his longtime trio with drummer Jeff Halischuk and bassist Randall Hall. Two searching originals sit alongside thoughtful reworkings of jazz repertoire spanning Kenny Garrett, Paul Simon, Bud Powell, Robert Glasper, and Astor Piazzolla, with the Odin Quartet's strings lending several tracks a warmer, more orchestral color.
