About the Album
Probably the most funk-heavy track on Ultraviolet's Ripples & Waves album, Nectar’s starting point was a sweet and sticky bass line. Over time, and through many colourful jam sessions, a multi-part story began to unfold. The first half of Nectar simmers with hard-hitting Afrobeat-inspired flavours until the energy shifts in the second half, shifts again, and then eventually settles into a downtempo, delectably deep domain of funk, with chill vibes and trippy wanderings. Nectar was recorded live, off-the-floor, at Dove Creek Studios (Vancouver Island). Three musicians. One room. Instrumentation is electric bass guitar, U10 Touch Guitar, and drum kit with driftwood sticks sourced from Vancouver Island beaches. Selected by Ah World Music Radio for their Editor’s Choice December 2023 edition. Released as single on December 8, 2023, and later released as part of the Ripples & Waves album. Oscar Robles Diaz - Touch Guitars' U10 Brittany Christina Bowman - electric bass guitar Beau Stocker - drum kit with driftwood sticks written & produced by Ultraviolet (Robles Diaz, Bowman, Stocker) recorded live at Dove Creek Studios, Vancouver Island, BC engineered and mixed by Jeff Drummond mastered by Dave Horrocks at Infinite Wave, Calgary, AB
