About the Album

Two musical mavericks, composer/vocalist Sara Serpa and pianist/composer Matt Mitchell, have come together to create a spellbinding new collaboration. “End of Something” includes original pieces by both artists as well as innovative settings of texts by poets/ writers Sonia Sanchez, Sofia de Mello Breyner, Virginia Woolf, and Luce Irigaray.

“Les Bergers,” a composition by Olivier Messiaen, is given new life by Serpa’s wordless and otherworldly singing and Mitchell’s profound piano playing.
