About the Album

The title track to Howie 61 (Abstract Logix, 2012), Wayne Krantz's latest release and first full-fledged foray into singing, after a couple of tracks featuring the idiosyncratic guitarist's vocals on 2009's Krantz Carlock Lefebvre (also on Abstract Logix). Unlike some artists who take the plunge into vocal music, there are no compromises here, with Krantz's guitar playing as distinct as ever, albeit focused into generally shorter songs. Krantz has been thinking about doing a vocal record since Long to Be Loose (Enja, 1998), and if it's taken him 14 years to get around to it, it's been well worth the wait, with Howie 61 already a contender for one of the year's best.
