Okonski announce their new instrumental jazz single “Flying” (feat. multi-instrumenalist Cochemea), arriving March 31 via Colemine Records.

The trio—pianist Steve Okonski, drummer Aaron Frazer, and bassist Michael Montgomery—are all members of Durand Jones & The Indications. With “Flying,” the group expands its sound, marking the first time Okonski has collaborated with a featured instrumentalist.

Cochemea (Daptone Records) joins on tenor saxophone, transforming the trio into a dynamic quartet. His expressive playing weaves fluidly through the group’s arrangements, culminating in a captivating saxophone and drum passage that carries the track to its close. His spiritual, searching tone complements the trio’s signature contemplative and meditative style.

“Flying” is the second in a series of forthcoming singles from Okonski.

The new single will be available digitally on March 31 via Colemine Records. Their previous release, “Easy,” is out now on all DSPs.
