El Cuarto

About the Album

El Cuarto is an original composition inspired on certain loudness of typical tango orchestra, but crossed by a dense writing, the Part A of the song is based in a rhythm 7x4. Full of counterpoint throughout the presentation of each theme both parts of the tune. Part B is more romantic but becomes something rhythmic since the improvisations played first by the bandoneon and then by baritone sax. The A section and the final coda have the same kind of pedal point over the 7x4 in which piano and bandoneon improvise. The music of Retamoza is a point of view over tango through jazz gestures and academic procedures
