Vienna born London based saxophonist Guido Spannocchi has come to critical acclaim through his delicate tone and unique approach which combines jazz vocabulary with his upbringing surrounded by classical compositions. His output of original music on his own label have secured him sold out shows from Ronnie Scott's across the US to Senegal, from Vogue Tokyo Fashion week through Brazil, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Europe to the London Jazz Festival, if not on tour Spannocchi runs various regular nights in the British Metropolis.
"Kammermusik" (chamber music) is Spannocchi's first new studio album in five years after his seminal success with "Perihelion" in 2021. With "Kammermusik" Spannocchi explores his childhood growing up in Vienna exposed to classical music and shows how his professional life in the British metropolis London makes its mark with a modern cosmopolitan sound which is also informed by his experiences and impressions of extensive touring as he embraces the sound of the world.
"Kammermusik" features long term collaborator and cellist Danny Keane (Grammy nominated composer and sideman of Anoushka Shankar, Mulatu Astatke e.a.) as well as Milan born London based Andea Di Biase on bass (Kenny Wheeler's sideman) and London Philharmonia solo percussionist James Larter on vibraphone and tubular bells.
The album is Spannocchi's most intimate, serene and daring work to date presenting an entirely new sound without drums yet never shy of grooves.
