About the Album
"Brand New Cat" is the opening track on the self-titled, full-length debut studio album of my band The Lund McVey Group, released in 2014. The song has a straight-ahead feel alternating between regular and double time feels and employing a modern jazz variation on standard rhythm changes. The album features a quartet of guitar, alto saxophone, bass, and drums with a vocalist on three songs. Our style blends straight-ahead, modern jazz, and fusion with some funk thrown in as well as a few other influences here and there.
