Michael Jefry Stevens: Live at Streamside
Benchè tutti eccellenti musicisti, gli otto compagni di viaggio pensano in termini di dialogo, più che accondiscendere all'alternanza di assoli. Piace poi l'andamento elegiaco, lievemente sfumato di alcuni temi dove batteria e contrabbasso svolgono perlopiù un ruolo coloristico o descrittivo, più che ritmico. È una musica avvincente tutta da assaporare per gustarne la ricchezza armonica, le soffici nuances, l'attenzione ad una costruzione dialogica di gran classe, ancorchè aperta all'impronta cameristica.
Un soffuso lirismo fa da cardine al concerto da cui è stato tratto questo CD, riassumibile con le parole d'apertura del film di Truffaut Effetto Notte: molto silenzio e molta precisione. E molto cuore palpitante.
