Collectively, we can make a difference
All About Jazz endeavours to present the most comprehensive jazz calendar and have so since Jazz Near You's inception (2011). Yet, over the years, we still have holes to fill. It's why we regularly encourage promoters, presenters and venue owners to upload or export their events to Jazz Near You. We make it super convenient for our subscribers to find out who is playing where and when and it's why we ask everyone to participate and list their events. First, listing is free. Second, and as mentioned here, we have nearly 86,000 subscribers, 34,000 of which are located in NYC, and with those numbers, it goes without saying that all NYC jazz presenters should list their events, and we can helpjust ask.
We recently heard from readers about an uptick in non-jazz events being listed. It's happeneing because we are working with ticketing companies to fill in the gaps left by non-participating venues. We plan to develop measures to identify and eliminate non-jazz events but it will take time. Also, please don't ask us why we don't carry events for certain venues. They've been notified repeatedly or they are aware of Jazz Near You, but feel free to contact them yourself.
All About Jazz is a technical platform led by technically-minded people. We've made exporting events to Jazz Near You via feed, CSV file, or by simply using our upload form as easy as possible. The reality is, there is no platform like Jazz Near You and there's a strong likelihood there will never be anything like it again. We are committed to constantly improving, but we need everyone's cooperation and adoption for Jazz Near You to fully realize its potential.
