Polish-Hungarian flautist Juli Deak was born in the year 2000. She is now based in Budapest, the capital of Hungary which has a population of approximately one point seven million, and is a premier European destination known for its stunning Danube-split scenery. Most of Deak's excellent debut album Brisk was recorded on April 14th  2025, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. The album's two longest tracks, "Depict" (six minutes and forty three minutes long) and "Trace" (six minutes and and twenty five seconds long) were recorded at the same location on January 2nd 2026.

Two of the album's tracks, the opener "Brisk" and the closer "Tamed," had previously been released as singles. Deak has said of the latter that, "Tamed" is a prayer. For me, it tells a story of a prayer filled with anger, struggle, renunciation, but also hope for something else. After my first concert, people came up to me and told me how deeply the music touched them, and how it brought back long forgotten memories. I had never imagined that my music could be so powerful as to make people cry. I was taught that one can pray not only with words, but also through dance, music, singing, gardening, in many ways. "Tamed" is my prayer."

All seven tracks of the album were composed and performed by Deak alone; they were recorded, mixed and mastered by Adam Gyongyost. The idea for this album began in 2021, and slowly evolved into a seven-track snapshot of Deak's musical world and artistic thinking. Having come from the challenging, refined and often flawless world of classical music, Deak began redirecting her musical voice towards a more personal space through experimentation and improvisation. What eventually grew into this project originally began as a handful of ideas, which only revealed their true meaning in front of an audience. At the core of the album lies breathing -not only an essential element of wind elements but of human life itself. For years, Deak's artistic work has explored the physical and explorative limits of the flute: circular breathing, breath sounds and singing while playing... such research has culminated in her current solo project, a shot of what is to come...

Watch this space.
