Album Description

The project "WAVES" is a Ukrainian progressive modern jazz music by a well known, prolific composer, arranger and pianist Nataliya Lebedeva. Lyrics for the compositions were created by the soloist of the project, the famous singer and composer Laura Marti. “WAVES” project was recorded to symbolize the fact that the war machine can never kill art. The recording session was done by gifted Ukrainian musicians in Germany at the Bauer Studios in September 2022, after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine and supported by Kunstiftung NRW, Freihandelszone, Tapstep, HR Music. The recording featured Magnus Öström, a prominent Swedish drummer, a member of world famous E.S.T. All songs of the project make a great set together, as they cover a wide range of different kinds of grooves and polyrhythms. Challenging, inventive mood shifts and the dynamic musical dramaturgy intrigue and create a special atmosphere for the listeners. The album will be released on the label Neuklang 24th of November, 2023. “WAVES” - fresh and original ukrainian jazz music that will not leave you indifferent.
