WAS/WERE is Benedict Koh's debut album. Singaporean bassist and composer Benedict Koh blends avant-garde worlds of both jazz and classical music to create a personal journey through this 7-track album. Inspired heavily by arithmetics, classical music, family ties to Singapore and his own conclusions on the world we live in, this album in a way closes a chapter of his first 6 years in the US. The title track and album name "WAS/WERE" serves as the works emotional and conceptual core, capturing uncertainty, tension, regret and self reflection. The album features a cast of upcoming rising musicians based in the US and Hong Kong. Benedict hopes to channel this energy into the whole album. The album is available on all streaming platform and BandCamp.
