Album Description

Real Life This Album represents my real life that it comes from my real experiences of life and the songs that are related to my life. "Four": Sheila Jordan who I studied with at City College and Queens College in New York taught me this song. Additionaliy, I was influenced by Jon Hendricks who wrote the lyrics. We went on a Japan tour 3 years ago and I was his assistant and interpreter on that trip. The key words to this song are "Truth" "Honor" "Happiness" and "Love" in your life, and "ain't no more". I feel "Amen" !! "Come Rain Or Come Shine": At my own wedding, not only we did "Exchange of Rings", but also did "Exchange of Songs" and this song was my gift to my husband, James Zollar in 2005. "All That Jazz": I love "Jazz" and This song is my dedication to JAZZ Music. "Full House": I've been doing a Brunch gig every Saturday at Nabe-Harlem since last year and I've been playing with a Guitar Duo. This song is in my recent repertoire that it's more like an instrumental song. And of course, I love Wes Montgomery. "Shinny Stockings" is one of my favorite Basie and Frank Foster songs with Ella Fitzgerald's lyrics. I love dancing to it too. "The Song Is You" is the song that I won the auditioned for the Queens College Master Program. So I think this song is my "lucky song". "Kaeru No Ohimesama ~Frog Princess~": It was a gift that I wrote for my piano student Rina when she became 4 years old on her Birthday. "More Than You Know" is one of my favorite Ballads. Love means a lot to my life. "Friends": Friends are always important to my real life !! I dedicate this song to Horace Silver whom I really admire and to all my friends. I received the permission from Tom Harrell to play his original trumpet solo unison with James Zollar. "Like This": My Mentor, Barry Harris wrote this song. Since I came to NY, I'm influenced by him !! I've been attending his workshop for 20 years. The last song, "Ingenmame Blues ~String Beans Blues~ is by Evelyn Blakey who is one of the daughters of Art Blakey. She was always singing it even at our wedding. After she passed away, I've been singing this song. This year marks the 20th anniversary since I came to NY. In conclusion, I sincerely do appreciate you to have this CD in your hands. If there is a space, I'd like to put them in) このアルバムは私の”リアルライフ”生きてきた体験に基づいて、人生に影響している曲を集めたものです。 ”Four"はNY市立大学、クイーンズ大学院時代習っていた、シーラ・ジョーダンに教わった曲で、3年前にジョン・ヘンドリックスが日本ツアーに行って私は通訳で回った時に彼からもとても影響を受けて歌うようになりました。"Come Rain Or Come Shine"は2005年の自分の結婚式で「指輪の交換」のように「曲の交換」をして、私が旦那のジェームスに贈った曲です。"All That Jazz"は、「私が人生をかけて歌っている音楽、JAZZ」に敬意を込めて選びました。"Full House"は、昨年から毎週土曜日にハーレムのNabeというお店で歌ってますが、ギターとデュオでやる事が多く、インスト寄りのアプローチでレパートリーにしています。"Shiny Stockings"は大好きなベイシー、フランク・フォスターの曲で、エラ・フィッツジェラルドの歌詞です。"The Song Is You"はこの曲が大学院へ入るオーディションの曲でした。もちろん合格だったので「幸運」の曲です。"Kaeru No Ohimesama ~Frong Princess~" は私のピアノの生徒さんリナちゃんのお誕生日のプレゼントに作った曲です。私もリナちゃんも「カエル」が好きなので、この曲が出来ました。"More Than You Know"は私の大好きなバラードの１曲です。"Friends"は私の人生にとって「友達」は本当に大切、そしてホレス・シルバーに敬意を込めて、ご本人に了承の上、トム・ハレルのソロをジェームスとユニゾンで演奏しました。"Like This"は私が最も影響を受けていると言っても過言ではない、バリー・ハリスの曲で、彼のコーラス隊で歌っていた曲です。最後の"Ingenmame Blues ~String Beans Blues"は、アート・ブレイキーの娘、エブリンがいつも歌ってたブルースで、彼女が多界した時に彼女を偲んでお葬式で歌って以来、ずっと歌っている曲です。今年、2016年はNY生活２０周年を記念する年です。そして、このCDを手にしてくれたあなたに感謝の意を込めて。 (霧生ナブ子）
