Album Description

A sense of lighthearted joy, gentle longing, and a unique fusion of music and dance: on September 11, 2026, the Cologne-based vocal trio LUAH will release their new EP, *Quintal* (luah music). Winners of the German Jazz Prize, the trio unfolds a multi-layered sonic landscape blending jazz, pop, singer-songwriter styles, and global influences, exploring relationships in all their sweet, fleeting, and bitter facets.

Of Gardens, Pomegranates, and Love
In the title track "Quintal"—Portuguese for "garden"—English and Portuguese lyrics meet Bossa Nova elements and a rock-infused, bluesy bridge. The song tells the story of two lovers who know their shared future is coming to an end, and who, for that very reason, savor a final moment fully in the present.

"Pomegranate" - released as a single on August 28 - uses the pomegranate as a metaphor for a deep love that encompasses moments both sweet and light, as well as sour and bitter. Delicate sixteenth-note guitar figures evoke the fruit's small seeds, while flashes of synthesizer capture its glistening, sparkling texture in musical form.
Both tracks were created as part of the interdisciplinary project "LUAH meets DANCE" with dancer Karina Syndicus. The cover art and music video for "Pomegranate" also emerged from this collaboration. The EP was recorded on March 14, 2026, in partnership with Justus Mohr at the Robert Schumann Institute in Düsseldorf.
