guitarAlbum Description
This album was created out of two distinct chapters. The first recordings were made in the fall of 2024, before an unexpected injury to my neck. The resulting nerve damage left me with significant muscle atrophy through the left side of my upper body. For several months, I could not play the guitar and grappled with the possibility that I may never play the way I once did or at all. There was a heavy weight of hopelessness and frustration. What followed was both a silence and a reckoning. In that pause, I listened differently. I carried uncertainty, grief, and a new awareness of fragility. When I finally slowly returned to playing, it was with a changed body and a sharper sense of what mattered in my music. The pieces on this album document not only how I played, but also what it means to fracture and to mend, to improvise not only music but life itself. These performances represent some of my most personal and vital playing. They are not about mastery, control, or artifice, but about honest, humble expression—a surrender to what the body can do and what the ear can hold. This music is both before and after. It is pre/post atrophy. Dedicated to all artists navigating the uncertain path of recovery—mental and physical. credits
